Campbell followed Abbey into the house and collapsed on the sofa. He looked at his wife as she sat down beside him.
“You okay, love?”
He nodded and smiled softly. “My back is just a little sore. It was a long and hard week on my body, but it was worth it to see you so happy.”
She frowned a little as she looked at him. “Don’t hurt yourself just to make me happy, love. I don’t want to see you back in that chair any more than you want to be in it.”
“I’m not to that point, darling. Just needing to stretch out the back some and do some of the therapy exercises that I didn’t do while we were gone.”
“We should have done them. We could have made time.”
He shook his head. “Things were perfect the way they were. If we had stopped for therapy, it would have ruined something along the way.”
“It was a pretty amazing trip, wasn’t it?”
“It was. I wouldn’t change a second of it.”
She made him turn so she could rub his back for him. She smiled when she felt him relaxing under her hands.
She leaned forward and kissed his neck. She smiled when she heard him groan.
He reached around and gently pulled her into his lap. He kissed her passionately as his hands slid under her shirt to unfasten her bra.
He had just pulled her shirt over her head when the doorbell chimed. “Who the fuck..?”
He kissed her softly and handed her shirt to her. “Whoever it is, I’ll get rid of them.”
He waited until she had her shirt back on before he opened the door. “Mom…Dad.”
Shelby didn’t even wait for an invite in and just brushed past her son. “We wanted to see how the trip went.”
“The trip was nice. We had a great time.”
Shelby looked over at Abbey. “You feeling okay? The ship movement didn’t make you sick?”
Abbey shook her head. “I never even noticed it.”
She looked over at Campbell and smiled. “Why don’t you show your parents the pictures while I get drinks for everybody.”
Campbell had other ideas on what he wanted to show his parents, but that would have been rude. “Let’s sit down. There are a lot of pictures.”
