Campbell sat with Abbey snuggling on the sofa while they talked about the upcoming wedding.
“How big of a wedding do you want?”
Abbey shrugged. “I don’t have any family to be there, so whatever you want is okay with me.”
“Just family then. I don’t want anything big.”
He pointed to his wheelchair sitting empty nearby. “And that thing is not invited.”
Abbey smiled and nodded. “I agree. You haven’t even used it around the house in days now. Only when you go out somewhere.”
“Well, I want the first time the family sees me walking again to be when I am walking with you at our wedding.”
He kissed her softly.
“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be back on my feet. I’d probably be in that thing the rest of my life.”
She shook her head. “It would have happened even without me. You just needed to have the motivation for it and a reason to want it.”
“You and our baby have been the perfect motivation.”
Abbey smiled softly at him. “And you wanted to fire me.”
He shook his head. “I didn’t want to. I just wanted to protect you.”
She put her hand lightly on his cheek and looked into his eyes. “Thank you for wanting that, but I am not going anywhere. I love you.”
He kissed her softly. “I’m going to do everything in my power to keep you and our baby safe and with me. I love you both too much to let you go.”
That’s so sweet. I hope everything is good for awhile. This poor Gypsy has lost too many people already.
