Campbell looked around the room. It looked perfect. He just needed to wait for Abbey to get home now. He had sent her to the office to pick up something for him. It was actually just an excuse to get her out of the house for a bit.
He heard her pull into the driveway and smiled. He put the plates on the table and looked up as she came in.
“Did you find the file?”
She shook her head. “I’m sorry. I looked, but could not find it.”
He shrugged. “It’s okay. I’ll get it tomorrow. Come sit and eat.”
She looked at the table and smiled. “It looks delicious.”
“Just a little something I put together while you were gone.”
Abbey tasted the food then smiled. “It is wonderful. You didn’t have to cook though. I would have taken care of dinner when I got home.”
Campbell shook his head. “I wanted to do it tonight. I wanted tonight to be special for you.”
“Why? What is going on?”
“I just think that when a person is getting proposed to, it should be special.”
Abbey looked at him confused then smiled when she realized what he was saying.
“You are planning to be proposed to?”
He smiled and shook his head. “I was thinking that I would propose to you.”
“And just what are you proposing?”
He shrugged. “Marriage comes to mind.”
“You want to get married?”
He nodded. “If you want to.”
She got up and kissed him softly. “I want to.”
That was sweet! I’m glad she said yes, but of course she would.
