Campbell was working in his office at the house when Abbey came in.
“Are you busy?”
He looked up at her and smiled as he shook his head. “I’m never too busy for you.”
She leaned down and kissed him softly then sat down. “I need to talk to you.”
“Okay? What’s up?”
He was worried that she had changed her mind and wanted to leave. He wouldn’t blame her and knew that he would let her go if it was what she wanted.
“I’m pregnant, Campbell.”
“Say that again.”
He wasn’t certain that he had heard her correctly.
“You are sure?”
She nodded. “I’ve taken several home tests and went to the doctor this morning to be certain. I am definitely pregnant.”
He leaned back in his chair, not sure what to say.
“I didn’t think I could…wow…”
He could see that she looked a little worried at his response. He reached his hand out then pulled her gently into his lap. He kissed her softly. “Our baby is going to be the luckiest baby in the universe because you are his or her mother.”
She smiled when he said that. “And you are her or his father.”
He kissed her again softly. “We need to make another doctor appointment.”
She looked at him not sure what another appointment was needed for. “Why?”
“I think the doctors were wrong at my last appointment. Something has changed.”
He smiled as he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer to him. “Well, I did manage to get you pregnant. I wasn’t able to get it hard after the accident until after I told you how I feel.”
She smiled as she listened to him. “That is wonderful. Any other changes?”
He nodded and smiled. “You would have to get up for that one.”
She got off his lap and stepped back. She saw him pointing to his right foot and looked down. She saw his toes moving. “Oh, Campbell..!”
