Campbell could smell the bacon cooking and smiled. He opened his eyes then closed them again. Waking up would mean the dream was over.
He remembered the night before. The two of them had a long talk. She told him that she was not going anywhere. He told her that she was stupid for taking the risk of staying. She told him that she may be, but she was still staying.
The night ended with the two of them tangled in the sheets.
Abby carried the tray into the room and sat it on the nightstand. She leaned down and kissed Campbell softly.
He looked at her and smiled. “So last night wasn’t a dream after all.”
She shook her head. “It definitely was no dream.”
She waited for him to sit up then put an extra pillow behind him. She put the tray on the bed beside him then sat down.
“I hope you are hungry. I made plenty for both of us.”
“We did work up an appetite last night, didn’t we?”
She didn’t answer him, but she did give a small smile. “What are the plans for today?”
“I have a meeting this morning at the office, then hopefully, start on the final draft of the plans for the house.”
They talked while they ate breakfast. When finished, Campbell moved the tray to the side table. He pulled Abby into his lap and kissed her softly.
“What about your meeting?”
“We have time.”
