Shelby found her father and husband watching tv in the living room. She sat down with them as her dad turned off the tv.
“How did the appointment go?”
She shook her head. “Not good. There’s been no change. He’s not getting out of that damn chair.”
Philip reached over and took her hand in his. “It’ll be okay.”
She nodded. “He had his hopes up. I hate that he was let down.”
“He’s a big boy, Shelby. He’ll be okay.”
She nodded. “He has Abbey. She has been a lot of help to him.”
Andy thought about how much his grandson had tried to get them to fire Abbey. He had seen the change in his attitude towards her though.
“What are we going to do with Abbey? You did tell him that you would reconsider keeping her after his appointment.”
“I know. I think he still needs her. He’s not only getting the physical support from him that he needs, but also emotional. She’s been great with him.”
Philip nodded. “I agree. I have noticed when I visit the house that they seem to have become friends.”
He looked at his wife. “That was your plan when you hired her, wasn’t it?”
Shelby shook her head. “No, but I had hoped.”
Philip sighed. “Don’t do this to him, Shelby. You know what he has been through. If this backfires, it could be really bad. It could hurt him a lot.”
She gave her husband a small smile. “It’s not going to backfire. Just trust me. I know what I am doing.”
Do you Shelby? Do you really know what your doing?

Would not be the first time Shelby did that. Her cousin and her best friend.
