Andy looked through the file that Antonio had put on his desk. He removed some pages and sat them to the side. “Cara didn’t do this.”
Antonio sat silently watching. He didn’t want to believe she would hurt anybody, but her past proves otherwise. He wasn’t going to bring that up though.
“Still no sign of Slade?”
“Not yet. The men have expanded the area looking for him. He won’t be able to hide for long.”
Andy nodded as he listened. “Have they reached out to their contacts in other cities?”
“They have. He has more people looking for him than Bin Laden ever had.”
He skipped over the pictures of the house. “The house has been taken care of?”
“Yes. It is ready for a new tenant whenever you are ready to rent it again.”
He shook his head. “Not yet. I am not certain I want anybody to live there again. The house has too many memories and too much bad energy now.”
“What would you like to do with the house?”
“I haven’t decided yet. I will let you know when I make a decision.”
He had thought about something Zalia had once told him that she had dreamed of doing.
“We are going to turn the house into an animal rescue.”
Antonio was a bit surprised but didn’t say anything. He knew that if it was what Andy wanted to do with it, it was going to happen.
