Owen got Andy registered at the local public school. He knew that his son was happy. He took him shopping for the things he was going to need.
Once home, Andy disappeared to his room to get everything ready for the next day.
Kyle looked at Owen when he sat down. “So it’s actually happening?”
Owen nodded and sighed. “He starts at the high school tomorrow.”
“How do you feel about it?”
“Sad. My little boy isn’t so little anymore. He is more independent and no longer needs me around.
Kyle shook his head. “He will always need you around.”
“Maybe, but not like he used to.”
“And that’s okay. If things stayed the same, you would still be changing his diapers.”
Owen couldn’t help smiling. “True. I am glad he is not still in those.”
“Dad? What time should I set the alarm for?”
“No later than seven. You want time to shower, get dressed, and eat breakfast.”
Kyle smiled as he listened. “Told you he still needs you.”
