3:35 Crying

Owen hadn’t realized how hard it was going to be to see Aliyah and her daughter. The fact that Tayler looked so much like Patrick didn’t help. Even though they were now divorced and he was still angry with him, he still loved him. Those feelings just don’t go away immediately.

He got up and walked outside. He needed a moment to get himself back together. He heard the door open and close and figured it was Derick checking on him. “I’m fine. I just needed some air.”

“If it is too hard for you to be around us, I can take Tayler and leave.”

Owen shook his head. “She should spend time with her brothers and sisters. I just didn’t expect…”

“Her to be a miniature version of her father? I didn’t either.”

“Why did you do it?”

“He lied to me. He told me that you knew and were okay with it.”

Owen turned and looked at her. “You thought that I would be okay with you sleeping with my husband?”

“I should have talked to you instead of trusting him.”

“Yes you should have. We probably could have come up with something that didn’t involve you fucking my husband.”

“I’m sorry, Owen. You have every right to hate me.”

“I do…but I don’t. You have been one of my best friends since we were kids. I can never hate you. I am still angry though.”

“I never did this to hurt you.”

“I know. I am sorry that he abandoned the two of you.”

She shook her head. “I’m not. It showed me his true colors.”

“Has he seen her?”

“Yeah. He has been spending a few days with her every week. He visits at our house. I don’t want that boyfriend of his around my daughter.”

Owen hadn’t known that Patrick had a new boyfriend. “Who is he dating?”

Aliyah thought he had already known. “I shouldn’t have said anything.”

“Who is it?”

“He’s dating Teague.”

Owen closed his eyes and took a deep breath. “He is dating Teague after the things that man has done?”

“I’m sorry. I know what he did to you.”

“I don’t care about that. He knocked up my sister.”

“Grace is pregnant?”

Owen nodded. “We found out at Christmas.”

“Is she alright? What is she going to do about school.”

“She hasn’t decided what she is doing.”

“She is a smart girl. I am sure she will make the best choice for her and the baby.”

“Daddy, Mama need you. Kenya got ouchie.”

Owen went inside to find out what happened.

Dakota had Kenya in her lap. She was crying as much as their daughter was.

Owen leaned down and could see the bump on the girls forehead.

“She fell and hit her head on the coffee table.”

“She’s still learning to walk. Falls and bumps are normal.” He lightly kissed Kenya’s forehead. “You are going to be alright, aren’t you, sweetheart.”

Kenya snuggled closer to Dakota and put her thumb in her mouth. Owen ruffled her hair and smiled.

“Look who we have here.”

Dakota looked at her brother and shook her head. “Don’t, Teague. Not in front of the kids.”

Owen looked at Teague then at Patrick. There was so many things he wanted to say to both of them, but he kept his mouth shut.

“We came to give you the good news, Sis. We just came from City Hall where we got married.”

They watched Owen go back outside followed by Derick.

Dakota looked at her brother. “You could have waited until he had gone home to tell me that. You did that on purpose just to hurt him. That was cruel.”

Derick stood beside his best friend. “Are you alright?”

Owen shook his head. “I knew that the day would come that he would start dating again. I didn’t expect him to get married this soon though. And to Teague of all people.”

“They dated before, right?”

Owen nodded. “Patrick said that his heart was broken when they broke up. I don’t understand why they would get married now.”

“Do you think he may have drugged him like he did you?”

“I don’t know. I don’t want to believe that Patrick would willingly do this, but I didn’t think he would sleep with Aliyah either.”

Derick watched Owen as they talked. “You are still in love with him, aren’t you?”

Owen nodded and sighed. “I am. Part of me was hoping we could start again.”

“I wish you would have told me before.”

Owen turned around and looked at Patrick. “I didn’t realize the feelings were still there until now.”

Derick went back inside leaving them alone to talk.

“I wish you would have figured it out sooner.” He reached out and took Owen’s hand in his. “I love you. That hasn’t changed any.’

“I love you too, but you are married now.” He pulled his hand away. “Why him?”

“We have a history together.”

“I have a history with him also, but I would never marry him.”

“He’s not a bad guy.”

“Not a bad guy? He drugged me and made me have sex with him. If that wasn’t enough, he fucked my sister.”

Patrick’s jaw almost hit the floor. “Teague and Grace?”

Owen nodded. “She’s pregnant. When she told him, he did the same thing you did to Aliyah.”

“He blew off her and the baby.”

Owen nodded. “Dad doesn’t know who the father is. He was told it was a boy she met at college. We aren’t telling him.”

“Your dad would kill him.”

Owen nodded. “Dad doesn’t need yet another murder trial.”

Patrick sighed thinking about everything. “What do we do now?”

“I take our son home, and you go home with your husband and our other three kids.”

“That’s not the way things should be. The two of us should be taking our kids home together.”

“That’s not the way things are anymore.”

“I will find a way to fix this.” He kissed Owen’s cheek. “We will be together again.”
