“What about this one? Three bedrooms. Two bathrooms.”
Owen shook his head. “I don’t want to leave Brindleton Bay. This is a great place to raise the kids.”
Even though he agreed, Patrick knew that it wasn’t possible. “We can’t afford it. I wish we could, but we can’t.”
Zaiden had been about to knock on the bedroom door when he overheard the conversation. He hadn’t realized things were that bad for the two of them.
He went back upstairs to talk to Raelyn. “Honey, we need to talk.”
He told her about the conversation he overheard.
“My mom needs help taking care of Daddy. We could move in there and leave this house for the boys.”
“There would be room for all of them then.”
Raelyn nodded. “With the triplets coming soon, they need to focus their money on the kids. They shouldn’t be worrying about buying a house right now.”
“I agree. Let’s go talk to them.”
They went back downstairs to talk to the boys.
“Boys, we need to talk to you about something.”
“You know your grandfather has been pretty sick. Your grandmother is needing some help taking care of him. You know how stubborn he can be.”
Owen nodded. He knew his grandmother refused to hire someone to help, but she hasn’t been healthy either. His Uncle Daniel was always so busy with his men so was rarely at the house to help.
“Your mother and I are going to move into your grandparents’ house to help them. You boys can have the house. I will help you with any remodeling you need to do.”
Owen looked at his parents. “Are you sure you want to do this?”
Raelyn nodded. “I want to spend as much time as I can with my parents right now. We will still be available when you need us.”
Owen hugged his mother. “I love you, Mom.”
