Izaiah searched the apartment for Callie. He found her and Zander watching yet another cooking show.
“You need to get dressed. My mother will be here to pick you up soon. Kaitlyn is going to babysit Zander while we are gone.”
Callie looked at him confused. Did he finally remember that Valentine’s Day had been a few days ago?
“Where are we going?”
“To get married.”
She must have heard him wrong. He must have meant that they were going to a wedding that he had forgotten to tell her about.
She watched him walk out of the room before she could say anything to him. She looked at Zander setting on the sofa.
“I think you daddy has gone crazy.”
Izaiah had it all taken care of. While Callie was getting mad at him for not wanting to set a date and thinking that all of his time was being spent searching for Zaiden, he had actually been planning a wedding to surprise her.
He hurried to the church to get there before Callie. He was happy to see that many of the guests he had invited were already there. Now he just had to wait for his bride to arrive.
His first look at Callie in her wedding dress took his breath away. He had asked his sister-in-law to find the dress that Callie had shown him in one of those millions of bridal magazines she had kept trying to get him to look at. He knew that she had fallen in love with the dress. Now he could see why.
“Izaiah, you are crazy. I can’t believe you did this.”
“Is this not what you want?”
“It is. I just thought…”
“You thought it was not what I wanted.
She nodded and looked down at the floor.
“I am sorry I made you feel that way, Callie. I know I have been distracted with trying to find Zaiden. You have been nothing but supportive of my search for him.”
“He’s your son, Izaiah. What kind of mother would I be if I could not understand a parent wanting their child with them?”
He softly caressed her cheek. “And that is one of the many things that I love about you.”
He took her hand in his. “Callie, will you please become my wife today?”
During the ceremony and the pictures afterwards, Diana sat thinking about what she had heard Callie and Izaiah say before they exchanged vows. She knew that she needed to tell him. She couldn’t keep it from him.
“Izaiah, can we talk? I have something important to tell you.”
