Izaiah got a call from his sister. That was very unexpected since his sister hadn’t talked to him in in a few years. His mother had told him that she got married again and adopted a few kids. Who she had married had been a big surprise, but if she was happen, then he was happy for her.
Let me lay this out for you. Izaiah’s sister, Diana, had been first married to Noah Ford. Yes, THAT Noah Ford. The prosecutor who had also been Colleen’s rough customer. Noah had left Diana and took their son, Dax, with him. He then married a woman named Paisley. When all hell broke lose and Noah ended up in jail, Diana got Dax back. She also fell for Paisley and they married. Together they adopted three kids of mixed race. They also had their eggs mixed with donor sperm and had their own kid. Together they are now raising five boys and a dog.
Back to the phone call. Diana was calling to invite her brother and his family to visit Brindleton Bay so the kids could get to know each other. He hadn’t been back to Brindleton Bay since he moved from there six years earlier. Since Diana still lived in the same neighborhood, he would stop and visit Colleen’s grave. That is if, the current owners of the house hadn’t removed it and if they didn’t mind. He would take flowers just in case.
After stopping by the old house and leaving flowers for Colleen, they headed for Diana’s house. He saw the kids playing outside and smiled. The kids could easily pass for being hers or her wife’s.
“Dax!” He gave his nephew a big hug. “You want to introduce me to your brothers?”
“The older one is Andy.” He pointed them out as he named them. “Tyrell is the twin with the glasses. The other one is Tyrese. The one with the long curly hair is Kendrick.”
Izaiah had to admit, he was a bit jealous. Diana had the big family he had always wanted. “Where is your mom?”
“She is in the house. We are waiting for Mama P to get home from work.”
Izaiah went inside to talk to his sister. Callie stayed outside with the kids.”
The first time seeing his sister since he left Brindleton Bay did not go as he had hoped. He had hoped for a happy reunion. Instead she glared at him across the room.
“After five years, you would think you would be happy to see me.”
“Why should I be?”
“You called and asked me to come. Why?”
“For the kids. I didn’t do it for you.”
He sat down beside his sister. “Why do you hate me so much?”
“Because of her.”
“Callie? You’ve never even met her.”
“Not Callie, you idiot! Colleen. I warned you about her before you married her.”
“Really? This is about Colleen? She has been dead for over five years. Why are you still so damn pissed at me about her?”
“You didn’t listen and she destroyed both of our lives.”
“How the fuck did she destroy your life?”
“She fucked my husband. Isn’t that enough?”
He looked at her kind of amazed she said that. “She fucked your husband and that destroyed your life? YOU WERE ALREADY DIVORCED!”
“She fucked our father. You can’t tell me that doesn’t bother you.”
He shook his head. “I don’t blame her for any of that, Diana. You know she was had no choice. You saw the news articles. I know you did. You know what Dad was arrested and sent to prison. Noah was sent for the same reason.”
“I can’t believe you, Izaiah. She ruined your life and you still love her.”
He nodded. “I do. I know that what she did was not her fault. I just wish it wasn’t too late to tell her.” He got up and left the room. He needed to calm himself back down.
“He is a damn idiot. Still in love with that damn dead whore.”
Izaiah went back outside with the kids. He needed to get away from his sister. He was starting to regret coming for this visit.
“So you are Uncle Izaiah. Dax talks about you a lot.”
Izaiah stopped and looked at the boy. “You are Andy, right?”
“Yes. You want to know a secret?”
Izaiah leaned down to hear what Andy had to say just as Diana came outside.
“You are still here?”
He stood up and nodded. “I’m leaving. I just stopped to say goodbye to my nephews. Is that a problem?”
“I guess not. Just make it quick and get out of here.”
Izaiah hugged his nephews then headed out. He wasn’t in the mood to listen to more bitching from Diana.
“Bye, Uncle Izaiah!”
He turned back to wave at Andy before leaving.
